So here we are in our Santa Maria studio, Ice Cream Audio.
Great gig at the Shell Cafe last night! The people were very enthusiastic, lots of dancing. The room sounds great, and they’ve put up some acoustic panels to soak up some of the bounce-back. We could use some in the studio… Although Ice Cream Audio is probably a temporary thing, maybe two or three months. Great news, everyone! Brad’s house deal came through, so the next studio might be at his place. Moving starts in 1 week.
The band’s next push is to rehearse up for the Blues Society show on April 21. Opening for Curtis Salgado! Check him out, a great soul singer and harp player. We’re hoping Chuck will be there to add some harp power to our set. Jerry’s going to be racing sailboats in Florida, so we’ll have a substitute bass player. Mike Hawking is going to help out: we’re in good hands.
It’s tough to make progress on the album while also keeping the old songs in shape, learning new ones, and rehearsing for special shows. But at least at Ice Cream we can keep all the gear set up and be ready when time permits. A rainy day like today is a good chance, I’m thinking to head down there this afternoon to edit some vocals and guitar solos, and work with the reverb.
Excelsior!
